Fund Manager
Mr V Ramanan has vast experience in setting up and managing Equity Research team in several sell side domestic and global Investment Banks and Buy side as well where he worked very closely with the Fund Management Team. The last seven years were in Fund Management. Ramanan started his career with ICICI Ltd where he worked for 12 years and moved to the Sell side in 1994 to set up Research at Kotak Securities (then part of Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd), when the equities market opened up for Institutional Securities. Worked with several Global Investment Banks over the next 7 years. This phase included Smith New Court, which merged with Merrill Lynch, Peregrine Securities, Santander Asia (Spanish Investment Bank) in Hong Kong, BNP Paribas and Dresdner Securities, where he managed Research Teams. Thereafter he had a two-year stint in New Zealand where he worked with a Boutique Investment Bank and was involved with setting a Merger Arbitrage Fund. He then moved to as Head of Research at Reliance Mutual Find where he set up a full fledged Research team. Thereafter, he moved to Premji Invest , the Family office of Azim Premji, where he was Co head of Listed Equities managing the listed portfolio of the Family Office. Premji Invest was among the first large Family Office to be professionally managed and was part of the journey from a Rs4,000cr fund when he joined to Rs35,000cr fund at the time he called it quits. Ramanan joined MK Ventures Capital post his stint at Premji Invest and worked very closely Madhu Kela helping him in indepth analysis of companies.
