Fund Manager
Mr. V. Ramanan possesses extensive expertise in the establishment and leadership of Equity Research departments across various domestic and international sell-side investment banks, as well as buy-side firms. In his buy-side roles, he collaborated closely with Fund Management teams. His most recent seven years were dedicated to fund management. Mr. Ramanan commenced his professional journey at ICICI Ltd., where he served for twelve years. In 1994, he transitioned to the sell-side to establish research operations at Kotak Securities (then a division of Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd.), coinciding with the liberalization of the institutional equities market. He subsequently spent seven years with several global investment banks, including Smith New Court (which later merged with Merrill Lynch), Peregrine Securities, Santander Asia (a Spanish Investment Bank) in Hong Kong, BNP Paribas, and Dresdner Securities, where he was responsible for managing research teams. Following this, he had a two-year engagement in New Zealand with a boutique investment bank, where he contributed to the formation of a Merger Arbitrage Fund. He then assumed the position of Head of Research at Reliance Mutual Fund, where he was instrumental in building a comprehensive research department. Subsequently, Mr. Ramanan joined Premji Invest, the family office of Azim Premji, serving as Co-Head of Listed Equities and overseeing the family office's listed portfolio. During his tenure at Premji Invest, which was among the pioneering professionally managed large family offices, the fund grew from INR 4,000 crore to INR 35,000 crore. Post his tenure at Premji Invest, Mr. Ramanan joined MK Ventures Capital, where he worked closely with Mr. Madhu Kela, providing in-depth company analysis.
